BrainThos Mentor Terms of Service 1. Acceptance of Terms By registering as a Mentor on BrainThos, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not provide mentoring services through BrainThos. 2. Role & Responsibilities As a BrainThos Mentor, you are responsible for providing academic guidance, mentorship, and educational support to K-12 students in accordance with BrainThos' standards. Your role is to: Foster a professional, engaging, and constructive learning environment. Assist students in understanding academic material without completing assignments, tests, or other work on their behalf. Adhere to BrainThos' privacy policies and maintain strict confidentiality. Follow BrainThos' mentoring methodologies and best practices to ensure high-quality service. 3. Eligibility & Onboarding Requirements To qualify as a Mentor, you must: Be actively enrolled in an accredited college or university. Successfully pass a mandatory background check before engaging with students. Provide accurate and up-to-date information regarding your credentials and qualifications. Adhere to all BrainThos policies and ethical standards. BrainThos reserves the right to approve, reject, or remove Mentors at its sole discretion. 4. Professional Conduct & Ethical Guidelines Mentors must uphold high standards of professionalism and integrity, including: Treating all students, parents, and BrainThos staff with respect and professionalism. Refraining from discriminatory, harassing, or inappropriate behavior. Avoiding personal relationships or unapproved communication with students outside of BrainThos’ designated channels. Complying with all applicable child protection, online safety, and privacy laws. Violations of these expectations may result in immediate suspension or termination from the platform. 5. Scheduling, Attendance & Availability Mentors must adhere to their agreed-upon schedules and notify BrainThos promptly of any availability changes. A minimum of 24-hour notice is required for cancellations or rescheduling requests. Repeated unexcused absences or last-minute cancellations may result in termination. 6. Compensation & Payment Terms Mentors will be compensated according to the rates outlined in their contract. Payments are processed biweekly or as per BrainThos' payroll schedule. Payment discrepancies must be reported within seven days of the payment date. Mentors are responsible for reporting earnings and complying with tax obligations. BrainThos reserves the right to adjust compensation policies with prior notice. 7. Safety, Privacy & Compliance Mentors must comply with all local, state, and federal regulations regarding child safety and online privacy. Only BrainThos-approved communication tools may be used for mentorship activities. Student privacy and confidentiality must be maintained per FERPA and other applicable regulations. Sharing personal contact details or engaging in unauthorized communication outside the platform is prohibited. 8. Termination & Suspension of Services BrainThos may suspend or terminate a Mentor’s engagement for: Violations of these Terms. Failure to maintain professional conduct. Repeated unexcused absences. Breaches of confidentiality, privacy, or safety policies. Mentors who choose to resign must provide written notice and fulfill outstanding obligations before resignation takes effect. 9. Intellectual Property & Use of Materials Any learning materials provided by BrainThos remain its property and cannot be used outside the platform without written permission. Recording, distributing, or replicating mentoring sessions without BrainThos’ and the student’s legal guardian’s consent is prohibited. 10. Limitation of Liability BrainThos is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from mentoring sessions, including but not limited to scheduling conflicts, technical issues, or student dissatisfaction. Mentors agree to indemnify BrainThos against legal claims arising from their actions on the platform. 11. Amendments & Updates to These Terms BrainThos reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. Mentors will be notified of significant changes via email or platform notifications. Continued participation constitutes acceptance of any modifications. 12.
