The Sandy Pruett Project

The Sandy Pruett Project is born from heartbreak, silence, and unanswered pleas for care. Some of us are estranged. Some sleep with locked bedroom doors. Some have no choice but to seek restraining orders—for safety—from our own children. Or our spouses. Or our parents. Some of us live under confidential addresses. Others aren’t in danger—but we’re still watching someone we love slip away while no treatment is offered. All of us have begged for help, and most of us have heard the same response: “It’s not illegal to be insane.” And CARE IS DENIED. Again and again. The Sandy Pruett Project exists because it’s not safe—or possible—for many families to speak out under their real names. Sandy is not one person. She is the voice of many. This page is a vessel for truth: For the families waiting to reunite with their loved ones—when it’s safe (meaning: when they are treated, stable, and no longer experiencing psychosis). For the parents still fighting for involuntary treatment, even after the threats. For the sons and daughters who committed violence during psychosis—and still deserve care. For those who didn’t survive the wait. This is where we rage. Not at our loved ones. At the systems that denied them care—and continue to leave us all behind. These stories will be copied and shared on the Sandy Pruett Project LinkedIn page, with the goal of showing legislators what families are living through—and what needs to change. Do not follow the LinkedIn page if you have safety concerns. I personally do not follow it. I only share the link: https://www.linkedin.com/company/sandy-pruett-project

Do you have an ask? If you were sitting down with your legislator, how would you ask them to help you?
