How Prepared Are You 
for a Tornado?

Gather emergency supplies before heading to a safe spot

Look out the window to see if you can spot the tornado

Take shelter in a basement or an interior room without windows

Run toward the nearest building for shelter

Take photos or videos of the cloud from a distance

Find the nearest ditch or low-lying area and lie flat

Abandon the car and find a ditch to lie in

Keep driving in the opposite direction of the tornado

Stop the car and take cover under a bridge or something

Evacuate immediately to a storm shelter or sturdy building

Take cover in the mobile home’s bathroom or closet

Wait to see if the tornado comes closer before deciding to leave

Drive to a safer location as quickly as possible
