At Shadow and Sax, we keep things open. We don’t limit submissions by theme, format, or deadlines. Whether you’re sharing visual art, short stories, poetry, or photography—we’re here for all of it.

We believe artists should decide how and when their work is ready. Our team reviews each submission with care and intention—nothing is rushed.

We also understand that submitting your work can feel vulnerable. That’s why we treat every piece we receive with respect.

How to Submit Your Work

You can submit your work in whichever way works best for you—either by uploading a file or sharing a link. For art and photography submissions, we’ve found the easiest method is to upload everything into a Google Drive folder and share the link with us.

Submission Fees

At the end of the form, you’ll be asked for payment information to complete your submission. Shadow and Sax is an independently run literary arts magazine. We’re a small, passionate team building something from the ground up. submission fees help us cover essential costs like web hosting, design tools, and other expenses that keep the magazine alive. Every dollar goes directly back into building the magazine and sustaining a platform for emerging voices in art and literature.

As a small thank-you, contributors selected for publication will receive a $5 tip. It’s a gesture of gratitude, and one we’re committed to growing as the magazine grows.

We offer two submission options:

Standard Submission - $3 Your work will be reviewed during our regular reading cycle with the same thoughtful care we give all submissions.

Expedited Submission - $10

For those who need a faster response, this option guarantees a reply within 24 hours.
