The Grant Street Monthly Market is an initiative of the Alexandra and District Traders and Tourism Association (ADTTA), aimed to strategically stimulate Sunday trading in town. ADTTA are very aware of the challenges for shops to trade on a Sunday (penalty rates, limited patronage, etc). By bringing a market (and thus visitors) directly into the main street at least one Sunday a month, we hope to generate enough visitation that more shops find it viable to open. In turn, more open shops means there's more for visitors and locals to do on a Sunday, and it builds momentum.
