Australasian Youth Cubesat Initiative Limited
We're looking for expressions of interest from passionate and motivated university students to join our Educational Outreach Team to help us inspire the next generation of engineers and scientists by facilitating space-related workshops, conferences and events in Melbourne, Australia.
The role involves research, content creation, in-person and online workshop facilitation (primary and secondary high school students).
These programs aim to provide an overview of the global space industry and potential career pathways, facilitate hands-on practical activities such as satellite simulators, gliders and model rocketry and teach basic engineering principles. These programs are designed to be multi-disciplinary and aim to complement existing curriculums by bridging the gap between industry and academia.
Australasian Youth Cubesat Initiative Limited is a student-run charity working to inspire, support and empower the next generation by democratising access to space. This is underpinned by the facilitation of educational outreach initiatives, a student-led cubesat satellite development program and public policy advocacy.
Duties
- Working within a small team environment to plan, develop and facilitate educational workshops.
- Researching, collating data and drafting documentation and educational materials.
- Engaging with key stakeholders to manage logistics and funding.
- Able to commit to 4 - 6 hours per week.
Selection Criteria
- Must be a self-starter and able to work effectively in a team environment.
- Whilst no specific experience is required, candidates must be willing to learn.
- Must be willing to travel within Melbourne and surrounding suburbs.
- Must have or be willing to obtain a Working with Children's Check.
- Must have an interest or passion for Space, STEM or Education.
- Ideally currently enrolled in a university course (1st or 2nd year preferred; degree does not need to be STEM specific).
