END THE PARKING CRISIS

Hi, I’m Jacob Wood, your neighbor.

Parking in Vineyard has become a serious problem. Whether you live in Lakefront, Edgewater, the condos at Waters Edge, Mill Point, or The Vine and many other places in Vineyard, chances are you’ve experienced the same frustration: circling the block late at night with nowhere to park, or worse — waking up to find your car booted or even towed, sometimes from right in front of your own home. These issues are affecting neighborhoods across the city. We need a permanent, fair solution that reflects our needs — not policies that punish us.

Like many of you, I’ve come home late only to find myself circling for a place to park — sometimes blocks away from where I live. The problem has gotten worse. Anyone coming home after 9 PM knows the struggle in Lakefront. It’s not just inconvenient — it’s unfair. I’ve watched people park right in front of their homes on public city roads like 300 West or Vineyard Loop road, only to find a boot on their car, simply because they didn’t have a new, controversial city parking pass even though they had a valid HOA pass.

That’s not right, and it needs to end.

I created this petition to raise awareness and give the people of Lakefront and all of Vineyard tired of the parking issues a voice. We’re tired of being ignored. We’re tired of feeling punished for simply living here. Young professionals, students, and families are being pushed out and penalized while leadership offers no real solutions.

This petition calls for:

• Immediate action to address the broken parking situation

• A review and halt to booting vehicles parked on public city roads, especially those with valid HOA passes

The creation of a reimbursement fund to refund the $75 dollars to residents who were unfairly booted under this new policy

• Accountability for predatory booting companies who are targeting renters, young people, and working residents across Vineyard

• A demand for fair, transparent, and community-first parking policies that reflect the needs of the people who actually live here

Make your voice heard. Sign this petition to demand leadership, fairness, and accountability. I’ve tried raising this issue through the proper channels, and now I’m asking you to stand with me — because we deserve better than this.
