Finance Director Application

We're looking for an Finance Director to oversee financial strategy, budgeting, fundraising, and financial compliance, ensuring fiscal responsibility and sustainability. Works closely with Finance team members.

This position is a part of the Executive Board and Board of Directors, and leads our Finance Team, which manages budgeting, fundraising, compliance, and financial planning to sustain our nonprofit’s initiatives.

Responsibilities

- Attend Board of Directors meetings quarterly, attend Executive Board meetings bi-weekly or as needed, host team meetings bi-weekly and as needed, and host or attend meetings as needed during event planning.
- Hold bi-weekly finance team meetings to ensure accurate financial tracking.
- Attend Advisory board meetings quarterly, and host All-Hands/Community meetings bi-annually.
- Present progress reports to present during Board of Directors meetings, and report updates to E-board during E-board meetings.
- Maintain financial records and track expenses.
- Collaborate on budget planning during event planning.
- Approve all spending (coordinate with Financial Analyst)
- Oversee fundraising initiatives and grant applications.
- Oversee tax preparation, filing, and compliance.
- Provide monthly budget reports to the Executive Board.
- Create necessary training materials and set guidelines and expectations for the Finance team.
- Collaborate with other E-board members to create and update the organization’s policies, organizational structure, handbooks, and other materials.
- Collaborate with team to create and send out donor reports for tax purposes
- Maintain confidentiality regarding the organization’s finances

Skills & Experience

- Must have experience in financial management, budgeting, fundraising, or nonprofit finance.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to oversee financial strategy and ensure fiscal responsibility.
- Proficiency in financial record-keeping, expense tracking, and budget planning.
- Familiarity or a willingness to learn about grant writing processes, fundraising strategies, and donor relations.
- Understanding of financial compliance, tax regulations, and working with external accountants.
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills to interpret financial data and provide reports.
- Strong communication skills to present financial updates to the Board and collaborate with team members.
- Commitment to the mission of Connection '24 Inc. and dedication to ensuring its financial sustainability.

Time commitment: On average, you can expect to contribute about 2–3 hours a week, but we totally understand that life happens. We're happy to work around your schedule! *Some weeks might be a bit busier, especially leading up to major events or initiatives.

Location: While our heart is in St. Louis, Missouri, our team mostly works remotely—so you can be part of the mission from wherever you are!
