📌About

We live in a time of great uncertainty — climate crisis, rising war tensions, looming disasters, and the pressures of fragile centralized systems. But perhaps these very uncertainties are not just threats, but a prelude to liberation : a chance to rethink how we live, and to discover new forms of freedom.

In both Korea and Japan, in the city and in the countryside, there are communities practicing this path of liberation. Seoul Nooks experiments with glocal co-living in the city, nurturing diversity and global citizenship. Itoshima Sharehouse lives amidst rice terraces, creating food, energy, and culture by hand since the 3.11 disaster.

This gathering asks:

● What must we liberate ourselves from in order to create resilient communities?
● How do we shift from consuming together to creating together?
● Can urban and rural communities liberate each other by sharing lessons across difference?

Through dialogue and shared rituals with Haebang makgeolli and Baton Touch sake, we will explore liberation as a way of living— grounded in resilience, diversity, and creativity.

🙌This gathering brings together:

Itoshima Sharehouse (Website):

Itoshima Sharehouse is a community in the rice terraces of Itoshima, born after the Great East Japan Earthquake as a response to the fragility of centralized systems. Residents with diverse backgrounds live together, farming rice and vegetables, hunting, fishing, and renovating an 80-year-old house. They experiment with creating food, money, and energy by hand — from beekeeping to solar panels to hosting rural experiences. The goal is not total self-sufficiency, but to break away from being “mere consumers” and rediscover the true value of living. Over time, they envision the sharehouse becoming like a small village where people of all generations can live, share, and raise children together.

Seoul Nooks (Website): Seoul Nooks is an international intentional coliving community where members are not just residents but co-creators of daily life. Unlike service-oriented models of coliving, Nooks is built collectively through practices such as Nonviolent Communication, townhalls, and microcosmos gatherings — weaving relationships with care and imagination.

What makes Nooks unique is its glocal spirit: local and international members living together, practicing diversity as a way of life. In a world where migration and multicultural coexistence will only deepen, Nooks is a place to prepare for that future. Here, we nurture global citizens, walk the path of peace, and learn — with our bodies and hearts — the wisdom of living together in times of transition.

Special drinks for tasting:

Baton Touch

Baton Touch is a craft sake brewed by Koichi at Itoshima Sharehouse, using seasonal fruits like Amanatsu citrus and herbs like mint. The name reflects its spirit: passing culture hand to hand, from past to present, from maker to community, and toward the future. It embodies the sharehouse’s philosophy of creating and sharing life directly with nature.

Haebang
Haebang is a makgeolli brewed by Mujung, a close friend of the Seoul Nooks community. Brewed with traditional nuruk and rice, it carries the spirit of “drinking fully and feeling abundance.” Mujung describes his brewing as like writing — slow, attentive, and alive. Haebang is not just a drink, but an invitation to freedom, generosity, and shared joy.
