Help shape a youth storytelling activation with Data Garden Co.

Hey! We are Mei and Jo, co-founders of Data Garden Co, and 2025 Fellows of the State Library Victoria.

We help young people combine STEM (data, creative coding) and storytelling to turn everyday experiences into visual, data-driven art.

As part of our State Library Fellowship, we are developing a project to invite young people to share and create stories while exploring the Library's Spaces and Collections. Your input will help inform the research and development of this project.

About us: Jo is an information designer and writer originally from Indonesia, and currently doing a Master's degree. Mei is a creative educator with a passion for material heritage and archives.

This survey is targeted to young people aged 12-25, and will take around 5 minutes to complete. There will be an opportunity to leave an email (at the end) if you would like to be further involved. Thank you, and see you on the other side!

Survey consent

• This survey is being conducted by Joanne Amarisa and Mei Leong as part of their 2025 State Library Victoria Fellowship. They are independent artist-researchers and are not employed by the State Library Victoria.

• This survey will delve into themes around culture, where participants (you) may be asked about your name and your cultural identity. These will be optional questions that you can skip if you wish to.

• If you are under 18, this section needs to be ticked by a parent, guardian, or consenting adult.

• All responses will be anonymised and kept private for use of Data Garden Co's project, stored on our survey platform Tally. No identifying information will be shared with other parties unless you have given consent to be contacted after the survey.

• You will not be contacted for any non-research purposes.

Survey consent

I am 18 years or older: I consent to take part in this survey, and have my responses be used by Data Garden Co. for the purposes of this project.

I am a parent/guardian/adult representing a child under 18 years old: I have read this information and consent to them taking part in this survey. We both give permission for their responses to be anonymised and used by Data Garden Co. for the purposes of this project.
