Position Overview

We are seeking a self-motivated individual with a strong interest in the legal field to join our team as a Legal Assistant. The successful candidate will provide essential support to attorneys and legal teams by handling a variety of administrative and case-related tasks. This is a remote, contract position with the opportunity to work on diverse and challenging assignments.

New team members start off in a paid training program that takes them through the main expectations of the role and allows them to assist a team working on real cases. Once a new team member finishes training, they move to assisting existing teams full-time, and eventually get matched with a client or law firm of their own.

Common Responsibilities

- Case Management Support: Assist attorneys with organizing case files, preparing necessary documents, managing deadlines, and maintaining accurate records to ensure efficient case progression.

- Client Communication: Serve as a key point of contact for clients by gathering case details, scheduling appointments, providing case updates, and addressing general inquiries via phone, email, and messaging platforms.

- Document Preparation and Research: Draft legal documents, correspondence, pleadings, and perform thorough legal research to gather and analyze information, summarizing findings for attorney review.

- Administrative and Scheduling Support: Handle intake calls, respond to emails, manage attorneys’ calendars, schedule appointments, and oversee general administrative tasks to ensure smooth daily operations.

Qualifications

- Proficiency in English and Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication in English (at least B1/B2 level), capable of handling phone calls and professional correspondence. Must effectively communicate with remote teams, manage multiple projects, and interact kindly with customers.

- Technical and Organizational Skills: Proficient with office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace) and skilled at navigating various communication tools like video chats and email. Strong organizational skills to manage tasks and deadlines efficiently.

- Detail-Oriented and a Self-Starter: Demonstrates a high level of accuracy in work and prior experience in customer service or similar roles, with the ability to figure out and problem-solve on your own.

- Remote Work Readiness: Available for 40 hours/week to work the client’s expected schedule (usually 8am-5pm), with a reliable computer, stable internet, and quiet work appropriate environment.

- Independent and Organized Professional: They have the ability to work on tasks independently without supervision, having a good understanding of what client expectations are and foreseeing job duties. Having a sense of how to organize and make efficient multiple concurrent tasks. 

Bonus Skills

- Experience in legal case management or similar fields is a plus.
- Proficiency with legal, medical, or other case management software is a plus.
- A legal degree or paralegal certificate is a plus.
