How do you usually explore and understand a new codebase?

What’s the most frustrating part about understanding unfamiliar code?

Would it be useful if a tool could trace how a feature works (e.g., login/logout), and automatically generate a visual flow (HLD/LLD), show related API contracts, track variable/data flow, and highlight key code snippets involved?

How big is your codebase/team?
