Substack Curator

Hours4-8 hours/week in addition to the mandatory check-in meetings with designated supervisor 

Compensation: This is an unpaid volunteer position, but eligible post-secondary students may qualify for a Riipen stipend. 

Volunteer Term: November 4, 2024 - June 30th, 2024

Location: Edmonton w/ Remote work options (Must be in Edmonton for onboarding)

Reporting to: The Green Room Co-Lead: Programs & Social Media

Your Purpose

We are looking for an organised and detail-oriented Substack Coordinator to oversee the development and curation of our Substack page. The ideal candidate will be responsible for sourcing community submissions, setting up a publishing team, and creating a structured publishing calendar.

Your Role

Organize and curate content for our Substack page, ensuring high-quality and engaging material is regularly published. Actively seek out and encourage community submissions, fostering diverse voices and perspectives. Establish and manage a publishing team to handle the content creation, editing, and distribution process. Develop a yearly publishing calendar to plan and schedule content releases in alignment with our goals and themes.

Content Organization: Ensure a consistent and well-organised publishing schedule, making it easier for readers to follow and engage with content regularly
Quality Assurance: Enhance the quality of published content by establishing editorial standards and a dedicated publishing team, ensuring every post is polished and impactful.
Increased Readership: Grow the audience by curating relevant, timely, and engaging content that resonates with the community and attracts new subscribers.
Community Engagement: Foster a sense of community by sourcing and featuring diverse voices and stories from contributors, increasing participation and readership
Community Voice Amplification: Elevate the voices of underrepresented community members by providing a platform for their stories and perspectives.
Brand Cohesion: Maintain the integrity of The Green Room’s mission and voice across all Substack publications, reinforcing brand identity.
Efficient Operations: Streamline the content creation and publication process, improving efficiency and reducing delays in delivering content to the audience.
Sustainable Growth: Lay the foundation for long-term success by implementing a structured publishing calendar that supports ongoing content creation and growth.

Qualifications

- Experience in content management, curation, and publishing.
- Strong organisational and project management skills.
- Ability to engage with and source content from a diverse community.
- Experience in creating and maintaining a structured publishing schedule
- Familiarity with Substack is an asset
- Must maintain the legal right to work in Canada
