European XR Landscape Research Academic Institutions

The second edition of this survey aims to gather valuable information about research organisations and institutions operating in the field of XR across Europe. This survey does not collect personal information and utilises Tally, a Belgium-based platform, for survey data collection and hosting. Any business-related data provided, such as the number of employees, projects, and revenue range, will be aggregated and anonymised to ensure confidentiality. We ask companies to share their names and logos so that they may be included in a European landscape database that will be created at the end of this research. The final date for survey submissions is 30 June 2025.

Data Retention Policy

We will retain the survey data for five years from the date of collection. This period allows us to conduct comprehensive analyses and follow-up studies on the XR ecosystem in Europe, ensuring that the insights remain relevant and up-to-date. After this period, all identifiable data will be securely deleted.

Purpose and Use of Data

The purpose of this research and survey is to map and analyse the commercial and non-commercial XR ecosystem in Europe. By gathering data on aspects such as location, size, growth trajectory, and sources of projects and funding, we aim to provide insights into the dynamics of the XR industry in Europe.

XR4Europe is conducting this research and will not share the raw survey data with third parties. XR4Europe may engage external researchers to assist in analysing and preparing the final report, which we plan to present publicly on our website by the end of the year. Insights and anonymised aggregate data may be shared with related industry research undertaken by other XR associations and institutions.

Data Rights

XR4Europe, as the data controller, ensures that organisations submitting the data have the right to update and erase their data in the survey at any time by contacting XR4Europe via email.
