Talking Bodies: Help shape our next resource

We are Talking Taboos, a small charity that focuses on researching, understanding and creating space for transformative conversations around taboo topics. We research the taboos needing urgent attention each year. This year one of our spotlight taboos is ‘Body Bias’, a taboo where we found that conversations about bodies are often silenced, avoided, stigmatised, and dominated by harmful stereotypes.

We know that while people who face this taboo are increasingly supported by informed and supportive communities, there is still a lot of stigma, and a lack of resources around how to talk (or not talk) about bodies in a caring and non-stigmatising way.

At our events, we have an anonymous taboo box where attendees can share the things they'd like to know or learn more about the topic. Often, these submissions to the box have been unspoken and silenced for a long time because of and the fear, shame and judgement that taboos create.

We are inviting you to share your thoughts and questions on the topic of Body Bias, so we can understand what's going unspoken, what's important to our community. By sharing your thoughts you’ll help shape the resources we build.

We’re creating a resource to help open up these conversations sensitively. We’d love your input to help shape it.

How we use your data The data you share here will only be used by the Talking Taboos Foundation and no-one else. We’ll use it to help us design the resource. We may use anonymous quotes in the resource but nothing you share will be made public or attributed to you. We’ll store and keep your data in line with our privacy policy which is available here https://talkingtaboos.com/privacy-policy/. At the end of the survey there is the chance to opt in to sign up to our mailing list in which case your responses will be collected with your contact details in the survey form. However, once the data collection is complete we will separate your contact information from your responses and the research information you share will be stored anonymously.

What do you find most challenging when talking about body size or body image?

What would help you feel more confident or informed when having these conversations?

What do you wish other people knew, or did, when talking to you about bodies?

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our team?

Would you like to sign up to our mailing list to receive our body bias and other resources direct to your inbox first? Sharing this data is completely optional and we’ll only use it for the purposes outlined above.
