We,
Marzia Aricò and
Andy Polaine, are working on plans for a leadership retreat in the gorgeous location of Sicily for design leaders.
As we started listing all the things we could cover we realised that transformation as a leader comes down to three fundamental shifts:
1. Reflect (because nobody else will do it for you). Nobody—not your boss, not your peers, not your calendar—is going to gift you the time and space to think deeply.
2. Reframe (because nobody will give you permission). Many design leaders we’ve met on our journey wait to be invited, for permission, to be asked to step up.
3. Reposition (because perspective changes everything). Sometimes, the biggest shift you can make isn’t what you do, but how you view what you do.
Marzia wrote more about this in her
Leadership Reset post, but for now, we would love your input and thoughts.
We know that one of the biggest things design leaders experience is loneliness and feeling there is barely any time to think and reflect. The aim of the retreat is to help you disconnect from the daily hectic, connect with the location and other leaders, regain new energy, and to let go of the reins and enjoy being coached and facilitated.
Here is an outline of what we have in mind:
