As we continue to grow, we are looking for a Managing Editor to lead our editorial team, elevate our storytelling, and ensure that TechCabal remains the most trusted voice in African technology.

About The Role

The Managing Editor will be responsible for shaping the editorial direction of TechCabal. This role involves overseeing the day-to-day operations of our editorial team, ensuring the highest standards of journalism, and driving the development of in-depth, original content that resonates with our audience of tech enthusiasts, entrepreneurs, and industry stakeholders. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of editorial excellence, strategic thinking, and a deep understanding of Africa’s tech landscape.

Key Responsibilities

Editorial Leadership
- Oversee the editorial calendar, ensuring a steady flow of high-quality stories, including news articles, features, analysis, and reports.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a diverse team of writers, editors, and contributors. Provide guidance on story development, editing, and best practices.
- Uphold the highest journalistic standards, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and integrity in all published content.
Content Strategy
- Develop and implement content strategies that align with TechCabal’s mission to be the definitive source of stories of how technology is shaping Africa.
- Utilise analytics to guide editorial decisions and improve content performance across all platforms.
Innovation
- Drive content innovation by working with the team to explore new formats, technologies, and storytelling methods. Launch journalism experiments that push the boundaries of traditional media.
- Stay ahead of industry trends and explore new formats and platforms for delivering content, such as podcasts, videos, and newsletters.

Qualifications

- You have at least 6 years of experience shaping stories and narrative, with at least 2 of those in editorial or storytelling leadership.
- You have a deep understanding of the African tech ecosystem and where it intersects with global tech trends.
- You have great taste and craft – in writing, editing, and storytelling. You have a strong sense of narrative and attention to detail.
- You’re comfortable with working in a fast-paced environment, have excellent communication skills and collaborate well with people.
- You’re excited about doing groundbreaking work that will shape the future of technology reporting in Africa.
