Toddlers and Tablets - Parent & Educator Survey

Phone Free Family is a project initiated and managed by Happy Healthy Together CIC (Registered Company no. 16008055); a non-profit organisation serving South Lakes and Furness. The mission of the project is to reduce the negative impact of smartphones and social technology on children and families. You can find out more about us on our website: www.happyhealthytogether.co.uk
In recent years, an increasing number of young children have been using touchscreen devices such as tablets and smartphones. This number is increasing each year, and the age that devices are introduced is getting younger and younger. According to Ofcom (2019), 49% of 3-4-year-olds use a tablet to go online, and 51% watch YouTube videos for 8hrs 6mins a week.
This survey aims to understand the impact that touchscreen devices (tablets and phones) are having on toddlers by engaging with parents and educators to find out firsthand about their experiences.
We will be running Toddlers and Tablets - Parent Workshops to discuss the pros, cons and best practise for tablet usage; screen-free alternatives on-the-go; and drafting family agreements to support children, parents and carers. The information from this survey will give us vital insight to help better understand the issue.
