What? An Other Life IRL get-together for individuals and families
When? Thursday, July 24th to Sunday July 27th
Where? The retreat will take place at a cabin located near Arnold, CA (up Highway 4). Once you've registered for the event, you will receive more information about the location.
How much? Depends on your chosen accommodations, anywhere from $500-$1,000. We will be providing childcare, so please feel free to bring the whole family.
The organizing theme for this retreat is "Slow Work: Build Now to Peak Later" -- focusing on how we can build individual and communal practices of learning which set us up to do our best work decades from now rather than chasing the latest fads or succumbing to the temptations of the ever-accelerating digital medium.
View a (tentative!) schedule
here. This schedule will remain open to revision throughout the weekend based on what the group wants to do. We've planned a number of talks and group discussions, but we also want attendees to feel free to engage however makes sense to them. The schedule also includes optional adventures we can enjoy together as a group.
If you don't want to be included, just leave this question blank.
The retreat will officially run from the afternoon of Friday, July 25 to the afternoon of Sunday, July 27, with a soft opening on Thursday, July 24. We will check in to the AirBnB around 4 PM on Thursday the 24th, so feel free to arrive that evening for a meal, to meet the other attendees, and enjoy a special speaker event.
Note that we can pick people up at the Sacramento airport that afternoon (2 hour drive from the retreat site), but you will need to coordinate amongst yourselves if you plan to fly into San Francisco, Oakland, or Reno. We're also planning to do another airport run on Friday late morning/afternoon to pick up those arriving at that time.
If an option is still available for selection in the dropdown, then that bed type is still available. Once you select your option, a Stripe payment field will appear for you to complete payment. If you have any questions, reach out to Matthew at
[email protected].
Please note that we do ask that any cancellations be at least a week out from the event. If you have to cancel last minute, we will not be able to refund your registration, as the funds will already have been used to pay for the accommodations and purchase food. We thank you for your understanding. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to Matthew at
[email protected].
