Gale helps American businesses get work authorization for their employees. We use modern tech and AI to streamline the entire immigration process. We are all Waterloo alumni, backed by Y Combinator, Velocity, and Axiom Partners.
As our 1st software intern, you’ll primarily be building AI-powered internal tooling for lawyers. You’ll manage the full product development cycle for your work, from feature scoping to development and feedback iteration.
This role may also have a significant design/frontend portion to it as well. Be prepared to write React/create Figma mockups.
We expect you to work effectively with the following languages and frameworks:
- TypeScript
- Postgres
- Fastify
- Effect
- React
- Figma
We need to see:
- Strong experience in web technologies, particularly TypeScript
- Strong experience shipping code to production
- Love for building products from 0 to 1
Bonus points:
- Experience shipping LLM-powered interfaces and products to production
- Sustained interest in functional programming (e.g. Haskell, Scala, Rust, etc.)
This is probably not the role for you if:
- You’re not interested in the entire product development cycle, from scoping to design to
building and iterating on feedback.
- You do not do well with outcome-based assessment. We have straightforward
expectations for this role: ship a feature from zero to production.
Logistics:
- 16 weeks, January to April (start and end dates are flexible)
- Remote out of Canada or the USA
- CANADIANS: you will work as a contractor, so you should be ready to withhold your own
taxes from your paycheque. We can help you with this.
Hiring Process: One or two 30 to 60 minute interviews
Compensation:
35-38 CAD/hr (22-28 USD/hr), commensurate on experience
It doesn't need to necessarily be tech/software. If you made something cool, show us.
