Sustainability Criteria in Supplier Selection

Clarification of Key Terms:

Sustainability: In this survey, sustainability refers to environmentally and socially responsible practices, including reducing carbon emissions, ensuring fair labor conditions, and maintaining transparency across the supply chain.
Sustainable supplier selection: The process of choosing and evaluating suppliers not only based on traditional criteria such as cost, quality, and delivery, but also by integrating sustainability dimensions—specifically, environmental and social factors—into the decision-making process.
Supplier Selection Criteria: These are the factors considered when choosing suppliers. In this context, they may include environmental certifications, ethical labor practices, or waste reduction measures. • Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD): A European Union proposal requiring companies to assess and address human rights and environmental impacts throughout their supply chains.
