The content of SCREED is organized around a different theme each month, partially based on what seems to emerge from whatever ideas are floating around. Besides the limitations of the print magazine format and SCREED 's fairly limited funding, the only real bounds of a good "SCREED" submission is whether it's about the spaces between music and life. Just a few examples of what you could propose:
- a music-focused comic strip, diagram, or map
- a doodle-covered tour diary
- scanned artifacts from your personal poster collection
- a long-form essay about your favorite venue/band/instrument/etc
- an impassioned manifesto or zine-within-a-zine
Context and web-weaving is everything to SCREED and proposals will be considered according to how they'd function in an issue as a whole – something that might not fit in one issue might make the ideal centerfold for an issue three months out.
As such, the process for reviewing these is going to be more organic than show reports or survey answers! This form primarily serves as a way to get us in touch, keep track of who's interested in doing what, and create a database of ideas for future SCREEDS.
