CBAM

The CBAM — the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism — has been in force since January. A fight we have been leading since 2019 for a level playing field: a European company should not pay a price for its emissions while its Chinese competitor escapes it.

Today, we are negotiating its extension to finished goods, and we are strengthening the protection of our exports to countries without carbon pricing. The vote in the European Parliament will take place in late July. The decisions made in the coming weeks will shape the future of European industry for years to come.
