Become a Langton Café Creative Host!

Welcome to The Langton Café Creative!

The Langton Café Creative is a new project to bring together our local community, at the Langton Café, with local artists, makers and small businesses who love teaching and sharing their work, in hands-on, educational or inspiring sessions.

Whether you teach watercolours, floristry, calligraphy, crochet, pottery painting, herbal crafts, creative writing, paper crafts or something completely different, we'd love to hear from you!

How it works (in a nutshell)

✨ Sessions take place inside The Langton Café. We'll reserve 1-3 tables for you (please always communicate numbers in advance!)
✨ Tuesday-Thursday between 8am–2pm.
✨ You choose what you'd like to teach.
✨ Usually around 1–2 hours (or whatever you decide!).
✨ We'll review and get back to you as soon as possible!

Frequently Asked Questions

What kinds of sessions are you looking for?

As much as we love hands-on arts and crafts sessions, we're inviting all types of meet up's and/or educational sessions by local small independent businesses or individuals. Anything that's suitable for a warm and inviting, relaxed café environment.

Do I need to have taught before?

No. But you would want to feel confident leading a small group, whilst sharing what you love.

When would I be able to run a session?

Join us anytime during Café hours. That's from 8am to 2pm. To start with, we're looking at Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
We suggest starting a monthly session, e.g. every second Tuesday of the month at 10:30-11:30am

How many people usually attend?

Café Creative is a new project, so as we're still growing, of course numbers will vary and cannot be guaranteed.

Our aim is to build this together over time, rather than expecting full sessions immediately.

Do you fill my workshop for me?

No. We will actively promote Café Creative and your sessions through our own social media channels, website and posters inside the pub. However, we won't be able to focus on filling sessions / workshops for you.

Every Creative Host is responsible for promoting their own sessions.

We'll also provide a simple marketing guide with ideas and suggestions to help make this as easy as possible.

Suitable activities

We're open to almost (😁) any activity that's suitable for a warm and welcoming café environment. If your session involves materials that could create possible damage of sort (such as paint, water or glue), we'll simply ask that you have suitable protection in place and leave our lovely Café space just as you found it.

If you're unsure whether your idea would be suitable, we'd still encourage you to apply! We're always happy to have a chat.

Can I choose my own dates?

Absolutely.

We'll work together to find a regular slot that suits both you and the café.

Is there a cost?

No, there's no charge to host a Café Creative session. In return, we'd love you and your attendees to support our Café by enjoying a drink, cake or lunch from our menu while you're here. It's all part of creating a welcoming community space, and every purchase helps this new project continue to grow.

Can children attend?

Entirely up to you.

Please let us know who your session is designed for, so we can help advertise accordingly.

What if my activity is messy?

We love creativity!

We simply ask that activities are suitable for the café environment and that you have appropriate measures in place to protect furniture and safely manage any materials.

What happens once I've applied?

Complete the application.

If we think it's a good fit, let's meet for coffee!

We'll chat through your ideas.

If we're both happy, we'll find a regular slot.

What we're building together 🫶

Our hope is that Cafe Creative becomes much more than a series of workshops.

If that sounds like something you'd love to be a part of, we'd love to hear from you.
