THE THINGS WE DON'T SAY

Call for Submissions I 13–20 October 2026

Some truths never make it past our lips.

Others arrive too late to be spoken.

Silence can be an act of tenderness or betrayal, a form of resistance, an inheritance, a refuge, or a wound that refuses to close.

What do we protect by remaining silent?

What do we risk by speaking?

And what happens to the things we never find the courage, the language, or the opportunity to say?

For our inaugural issue, Loudmouth invites writers to explore the space between what is felt and what is expressed.

We are interested in secrets, withheld truths, unspoken desires, unfinished conversations, and the quiet consequences of words left unsaid.

Interpret the prompt however you wish. Take it somewhere unexpected. Surprise us.

We are not looking for one particular kind of story, voice, or conclusion. We welcome the intimate and the unsettling, the tender and the confrontational, the experimental and the understated.

Sometimes the loudest stories are the ones nobody tells.
