Through Art on the River's Artist Encouragement Project, we invite artists, art lovers, and supporters from around the world to share meaningful encouragement with our young artists.
Each artwork represents a child's imagination, creativity, and unique way of seeing the world. We want these young artists to know that their work is being seen, valued, and celebrated.
We encourage you to go beyond simple comments like "Great job!" or "Nice painting!"
Instead, take a moment to really look at the artwork and share something specific that caught your attention.
• What colors, details, or techniques stood out to you?
• What emotions, memories, or ideas did the artwork bring to mind?
• What do you find interesting or original about the artist's approach?
• What would you like to encourage this young artist to keep exploring?
For example: Rather than saying "Beautiful artwork!" you might say, "I love how you used those bright oranges against the deep blues. The contrast makes the whole painting feel alive! I hope you keep experimenting with color because you have a wonderful eye for it."
You don't have to be a professional artist. Your genuine observations and encouraging words are what matter most.
