The historic Clark County reading of the Declaration of Independence
A Clark County Museum Fundraiser
When: July 4, 2026, 11:30 a.m., following the Jeff Main Street July 4th parade
Where: Warder Park, Jeffersonville, Warder Park Bandstand
The Clark County Indiana Museum is commemorating America 250 by selecting 76 persons (reflecting the year 1776) with Clark County connections to read a portion of the Declaration of Independence. This historic reading will include a curated, diverse cross-section of the community and will be preserved for all time.
Following the reading, everyone in attendance will be invited to sign a large copy of the Declaration of Independence, and signing will continue at the museum throughout the remainder of 2026. This signed copy of the Declaration will be preserved for the future as a part of the museum's permanent collection.
Readers can nominate themselves or someone they know to do the honor of reading and being listed in the program by visiting www.clarkcountyinmuseum.org by
June 20th, 2026. Donate any amount for future historic preservation efforts at the Clark County Indiana Museum and indicate who you are, who you would like to nominate, and how you can best be reached.
