The Consult From the Field

From the Field. Tell us your story. Every week we publish one true story from inside medicine. We edit for length and clarity. We edit hard for privacy. You will see and approve the final version before it ever runs. Nothing publishes without your yes.
Before you write, protect your patients. Please confirm your story contains:
• No patient names, initials, or nicknames
• No specific dates. "Early in my residency" works. "March 2023" does not.
• No facility names or locations smaller than a region
• No rare diagnosis paired with demographics. A one in a million condition in a small town is a name, even without the name.
• No colleagues identifiable without their consent
Changing a name is not the same as protecting a patient. We will edit further on our end. Help us start from a safe place.
