By submitting a project to FCS Script Lab, the Applicant agrees to be bound by the following strict terms and conditions.
1. ELIGIBILITY & GUIDELINES
1.1. Accepted Formats: We accept Feature Films (41–140 pages) and Short Films (1–40 pages). We do not accept TV Pilots, Series Bibles, or Web Series. Submissions in these formats will be disqualified without refund.
1.2. File Standards: Submissions must be PDF only, standard industry format (Courier 12pt). Only finished scripts are accepted.
1.3. Mandatory Asset: The Applicant must upload a Royalty-Free Poster or Promotional Image in the submission form. This asset will be used for promotional purposes if the project is selected.
1.4. Competition Eligibility & Resubmissions: To maintain the integrity of our Annual Selection, only first-time submissions are eligible for the competition. Scripts rated as "Excellent" in their first review will enter the pool for the quarterly and annual finals. Revised drafts (resubmissions) are welcome for further professional feedback and development purposes but will not be eligible to re-enter the competition, regardless of the new score.
2. THE EVALUATION PROCESS & SELECTION
2.1. The Verdict vs. Selection: Every script receives a grade (Pass, Consider, or Excellent). Please note that receiving an "Excellent" rating does NOT guarantee selection as a Quarterly Finalist.
2.2. Quarterly Finalists: Every 3 months, our Jury selects only the Top 2 projects from the pool of "Excellent" rated scripts to advance as Quarterly Finalists.
2.3. Notifications:
- Coverage Delivery: The PDF Analysis and Scorecard will be sent to the email address provided in the submission form.
- Finalist Status: Writers selected as Quarterly Finalists will be notified via email. If you do not receive a specific "Finalist Notification" email, your project has not advanced to the next round.
2.4. Commitment to Equality & Representation (50/50 Parity Rule): To foster a more inclusive cinematic landscape and ensure diverse perspectives, FCS Script Lab enforces a strict Representation Guarantee for its Annual Top 8 Selection:
- Gender Parity: 50% of the Annual Finalists (4 out of 8) will be projects written or co-written by Women, ensuring female voices are prioritized in our development pipeline.
- Format Balance: 50% of the Annual Selection (4 out of 8) will be dedicated to Short Film scripts, and 50% to Feature Film scripts, granting equal prestige to both formats.
- Merit-Based Inclusion: This parity rule applies to all projects that have achieved an "Excellent" rating, ensuring that the highest quality of writing meets our standards of equity.
3.1. Method: Payments must be made via PayPal (Friend/Family transfer).
3.2. Extra Services: If "Add-On" services are selected but not paid for in the PayPal transfer, they will not be provided.
4. STRICT NO-REFUND & WITHDRAWAL POLICY
4.1. Irrevocable Submission: Once submitted, scripts cannot be withdrawn, deleted, or removed from our records under any circumstances.
4.2. No Refunds: All fees are final. No refunds will be issued for withdrawals, disqualifications, or dissatisfaction with the feedback.
4.3. Resubmissions & Discounts: We do not accept free file replacements. If you choose to rewrite and submit a new version of the same project, you may use the code FCS20 OFF to receive a 20% discount. Important: This discount grants a new review of the same film, but it does NOT grant a second opportunity to compete for the awards or Finalist selection. Furthermore, this code is invalid for submitting a new or different project.
5. ANONYMITY & EVALUATION STAFF
5.1. Analyst Anonymity: To ensure impartiality and protect our staff, the identity of the specific reader or critic who reviews your script will NEVER be disclosed. The applicant waives any right to request the name of the evaluator or to contact them directly.
5.2. Jury Privacy: FCS Script Lab reserves the right to keep the members of the Annual Selection Jury anonymous, even after awards are distributed, to prevent harassment or conflicts of interest.
6.1. Confidentiality of Reviews: We will never publish the full text of your review, scorecard, or specific feedback publicly. The analysis is strictly for the writer.
6.2. Public Listing: If your project is selected as a Finalist or Winner, FCS Script Lab reserves the right to publish only the following metadata: Title, Writer Name, Year, Location, Format, Genre, and Logline/Poster. No negative or critical opinions will be posted publicly.
7. AWARDS & PRIZE DISCLAIMERS
7.1. Industry Meeting Disclaimer: The "1-on-1 Zoom Session with an industry professional" is a prize subject to the guest's professional availability and schedule.
7.2. Compensation Clause: In the event that the Zoom session cannot take place for any reason, the winner agrees to accept one (1) Free Entry Waiver for the next edition of FCS Script Lab as full and final compensation for this specific prize. No cash alternative will be offered.
