Welcome to The World Is At The Window, connecting schools, colleges, and universities with the life, work, and legacy of Gwendolyn Brooks.

The World Is At The Window offers each of 10 selected institutions the opportunity to participate in eight monthly 30–60 minute live online sessions from October 2026 through May 2027. Sessions will be conducted by Nora Brooks Blakely, Gwendolyn Brooks’ daughter and legacy holder. Ms. Blakely is an author, educator, speaker, and literary arts administrator.

Available sessions include readings and discussions, photo and slide presentations, personal memories, creative brainstorming, Q&A, and other interactive experiences. Some customization is available within these program formats to help meet the interests and needs of participating institutions.

PARTICIPATION COMMITMENT

Selected institutions will commit to purchasing 100 Brooks Permissions books in any combination of the available titles. No book purchase is required to apply. The purchase commitment begins only after an institution has been selected and accepts its invitation to participate.
