What is it really like to establish and run a private counselling or psychotherapy practice in the UK?
This short independent survey explores the practical, professional and personal realities experienced by counsellors and psychotherapists who are considering, establishing, running, developing or renewing a private practice.
It is open to people aged 18 or over who are undertaking counselling or psychotherapy training in the UK, preparing to enter private practice, currently working in private practice or reflecting on previous private-practice experience.
The findings will be used to:
• produce an anonymised report on the direction of UK private practice;
• identify areas in which practitioners would benefit from better information, preparation or support; and
• inform the development of educational resources and the Sentia Compass Framework.
The Pulse is intended to contribute to the profession rather than market to the profession. It is conducted by Jeremy Gordon, counsellor, clinical supervisor and founder of Sentia Well-being Ltd.
The questionnaire should take approximately four to five minutes.
Your answers will be analysed and reported in aggregate. Short anonymised extracts from free-text responses may be included in reports, articles, teaching materials or presentations.
Please do not include the names of clients, colleagues, organisations or other identifiable individuals.
Participation is voluntary. You may leave the survey at any time before submitting it.
Any request for the complimentary workbook or the final Pulse report will be collected through a separate form and will not be connected to your anonymous research response.
