GUAP Contributions

GUAP is building a home for cultural storytelling that actually means something - long-form, honest, specific and rooted in the communities and creative worlds we cover. We want writers who care about getting it right, not just getting it out.
Writers who understand that a story told well can change how someone sees the world, or at the very least how they see themselves in it. That is the standard we hold ourselves to and the standard we expect from everyone who writes for us.
We accept two types of contribution formats.

Written articles
Long-form pieces between 300 and 1,500 words. A strong angle, a clear perspective and a subject you know from the inside. It is your genuine take on a person, a community or something happening in the culture that our audience needs to discover.

Video Essay
A video essay, interview or cultural deep dive in your own format. The transcript will be published as the article on Substack with the video embedded. The same standard applies - it needs to leave the audience discovering something or someone new
