The Exodus Tour

Sign Ups (US-In Person)

The Exodus Tour is a series of Workshops on Digital Marronage. Digital marronage is about reclaiming our love and relationships by reviving protocols from ancestries for connecting with each other.

This is not a coding Bootcamp. It's a 🌅 REVIVAL🌅.
Memory is the mode imagination here.
📍The locations of the workshops will be divulged via private message.
🍱There will be food/light refreshments at each of the workshops. Please feel free to order your own food as well.

On the first day, we will get to collectively make some exits! We’ll download open source and privacy forward software onto our phones and computers, talk about what open-source means, and explore the meaning of protocols. This is for you if your "de-Googling" list keeps growing and you're overwhelmed with all the stuff you "need" to download. ~2 hours

On the second day, we’ll learn how to work with servers, Bash, and the principles of the decentralized web while reimagining relationships beyond extraction and accumulation. In small groups, participants will create collages for protocols from found futures, drawn from ancestral memory. Together, these collages will become a shared repository of “fugitive protocols” — alternative ways of building and being on the web. ~4 hours

On day three, we'll explore how the internet works. This three-hour workshop explores the physical components of connectivity and how the internet actually reaches us. Participants will trace a path from the undersea cables that carry global data to the local hardware that makes everyday connection possible, and then build a mini-version of the internet themselves. Drawing on familiar experiences—like typing a web address into a browser or holding a phone by a window for better signal—we’ll translate intuitive knowledge into foundational skills for creating independent networks. Together, we’ll experiment with building portable and mesh networks that place the power of connectivity in our own hands, rather than leaving it to the shifting preferences of an expanding technocracy. ~3 hours

These workshops are an invitation to my own learning process and a sharing of my own w@ndering. 🔥Because of the continuation of this work depending on others, I ask that folks come in groups of 2s, 4s, or 8s.🔥

Bring your laptop 💻 or let me know that you need access to one below.
There's no real "due date". This is a sign up form as opposed to some form of an application. We're going to have to work with each other. 🙃 I just want to know that you're coming and a little bit about you.

Questions to build out a priority 📈

The workshops are open to the public, but on the off-chance there are too many sign-ups, we want to prioritize learning with folks who are subaltern in their context.
