Every vehicle inspection helps ensure the safety of drivers, riders, and the public. Drivers are responsible for reporting any concerns immediately and should never operate a vehicle they believe to be unsafe.
Drivers should inspect:
• Vehicle exterior
• Tires for visible damage and proper inflation
• Windshield and windows
• Mirrors
• Headlights
• Brake lights
• Turn signals
• Hazard lights
• License plate
• Fluid leaks beneath the vehicle
Verify:
• Fuel level
• Dashboard warning lights
• Brakes functioning properly
• Steering response
• Horn
• Windshield wipers
• Air conditioning and heater (as needed)
• GPS/tablet functioning
• Phone charger available
Confirm:
• Vehicle is clean
• Seats are secure
• Seat belts function properly
• Floor is free of hazards
• Emergency exits are unobstructed
• First aid kit is onboard
• Safety vest is onboard
• Flashlight is available
• Phone mount is secure
Drivers should:
• Monitor vehicle performance.
• Watch for warning lights.
• Report unusual noises, vibrations, or mechanical concerns.
• Pull over safely if a serious mechanical issue occurs.
Drivers should:
• Remove trash.
• Check for lost property.
• Record fuel level if required.
• Inspect for new damage.
• Report maintenance needs.
• Secure and lock the vehicle.
Instruct drivers to notify management immediately if they discover:
• Tire damage
• Brake concerns
• Steering issues
• Engine warning lights
• Fluid leaks
• Broken lights
• Safety equipment missing
• Any condition that could affect safe operation.
