Shared Drafts Project | Issue #4: REST Submission Form

For Issue 4, we are focusing on a word rather than a form: REST. Rest can take many forms. It can be a pause, a place, a feeling, a necessity, a choice, or something we struggle to find. It can be found in stillness, in nature, in connection, or in simply allowing ourselves to be. And sometimes, rest is defined most clearly by its absence.

Qualifications: We invite you to interpret REST in any way that feels meaningful to you. We welcome art, poetry, writing, photography, and other creative formats New or old, finished or unfinished, forgotten or unseen — your work does not need to be created specifically for this theme. We’re interested in pieces that explore rest, stillness, exhaustion, recovery, or the absence of rest.

Submissions can be up to 5 pages total.

Only submit one piece for consideration.

Submission Period: September 23rd - October 23rd, 2026
You will hear back from us on November 14th, 2026.
Selected contributors will receive an honorarium of $5.00 if their piece is selected.

Payment Information

For this issue, contributors will receive a $5 honorarium if their piece is selected. This rate is non-negotiable and reflects the Shared Drafts Project’s status as an independently run, community-sustained space for creatives.

Payments will be (preferably) distributed via Venmo, Zelle, or PayPal.

Agreement & Confirmation

I confirm that I am the creator of this work or have permission to submit it. I retain full ownership of my work but grant the Shared Drafts Project permission to store, display, and share it as part of this issue and related promotions. I understand that I am solely responsible for ensuring my submission does not infringe on the rights of others.

By participating in any Shared Drafts readings, recordings, or related events, I grant permission for my name, likeness, and performance to be included in event materials and shared through the project’s website, social media, or future archives, unless I request otherwise in writing.
