Call for Artist-Led Workshop Proposals

2026 - 2027

Hued Songs invites artists, culture bearers, scholars, and creative practitioners to submit proposals for creative workshops as part of our year-long residency at the African American Research Library & Cultural Center, and The Daisy Arts Center -- informed along the Thematic Arc(s) of: Freedom, Legacy/ Preservation, Belonging, Black Futurism, and Creative Placemaking.

Rooted in our mission to cultivate spaces of belonging through multidisciplinary artistic expression, this workshop series centers community engagement, artistic experimentation, and inter-generational dialogue. We are seeking proposals that offer participants meaningful, participatory experiences grounded in culture, creativity, and care.

Workshops may be:

A one-time standalone experience AND/OR

A scaffolded two-part workshop series (up to 2 sessions maximum).
Workshops should be participatory, accessible, and designed for community members of varying experience levels. We welcome proposals across disciplines including (but not limited to):

Music & vocal expression

Writing & storytelling

Movement & embodied practices

Visual arts

Cultural memory & research-based practices

Ritual, craft, and Diasporic traditions

Interdisciplinary or experimental forms
All workshops will take place in the Ft. Lauderdale Historic Sistrunk Neighborhood.
