IDOL is a gritty, high-stakes student short film that explores the dark side of obsession and the brutal cost of greatness. Written and directed by Sawyer O'Brien, it follows 18-year-old wrestler Tyler Wells, whose fierce ambition to become an Olympic champion like his hero Jordan Carter is threatened by a serious knee injury and concussion. Pushed to his breaking point by his demanding, win-at-all-costs father Derek—whose berating borders on abusive—Tyler must confront how much of himself he's willing to destroy to reach the top.
