Section 3 - Alignment & Interest

Get to know Dr Paul Froomes

Dr Paul Froomes’ career changed the day he treated a man in intensive care who was dying from multi-resistant . Every antibiotic had failed. With nothing left to lose, the team performed a faecal microbiota transplant (FMT) based on a recently published paper. The result was unforgettable — the patient, moments from death, made a full recovery and walked out of hospital days later.
Witnessing the microbiome succeed where modern medicine had failed shaped the direction of Dr Froomes’ life’s work. From that moment, he committed himself to understanding and treating the microbiome to improve patient outcomes.

Over the next two decades, Dr Froomes applied this emerging science to thousands of patients with chronic gut conditions. While many in the medical field were sceptical, he continued to treat the microbiome with consistent, measurable success. His clinical interest spans IBS, IBD, SIBO, reflux, swallowing disorders, colon cancer screening, fatty liver, coeliac disease, parasites, fungal dysbiosis and the broader gut–immune ecosystem.

Dr Froomes has been a practising gastroenterologist for over 25 years and has managed more than 10,000 patients. Known for his curiosity and commitment to evidence-based innovation, he brings a rare combination of scientific rigour, clinical experience and practical compassion.

His work recognises that humans are ecosystems — with gut, oral, vaginal and skin microbiomes all influencing health. This philosophy led him to launch , bringing advanced microbiome-based care into an accessible, modern clinical model for patients across Australia and beyond.
