OpsCat - Studio Self-Assessment

How to use this tool
Work through each section and rate every statement as honestly as you can. The goal is not a passing score: it is an accurate picture of where your studio is genuinely solid and where things are still being built.
Why three options instead of yes or no

Most assessment tools push toward a binary: true or false, yes or no. The problem is that binary choices reward overconfidence in some founders and punish underconfidence in others. A single "yes" can mean anything from "we talked about this once" to "we have a signed document and everyone agrees," and that's exactly what this tool is designed to surface.

The three-point scale is calibrated to make that gap visible.

Fully true means it is documented, tested, agreed on, and would hold up if someone asked you to demonstrate it tomorrow. IE actually true in the sense that you could show your work.

70–95% true means it is real and meaningfully in place, but there are known gaps, unresolved edge cases, or things still being finalized. This is an honest signal that something is working but not yet complete, and that is genuinely useful information.

Less than 70% true means still planned, 'half-done' (which means 80% of the work or more remains) or something you have not yet had to confront directly. Most studios, even strong ones, have several of these. Identifying them is how you get ahead of them before they surface under delivery pressure, in a due diligence conversation, or mid-negotiation with a publisher.

If you find yourself marking everything "fully true," slow down and reread the statements, if necessary, ask instead, 'What would other people in the company answer for this question?'

Clusters of low scores in any single area are worth examining together: they often point to a systemic gap rather than a collection of unrelated items. After you complete the initial assessment, you will be offered a follow-up exercise. If you want to dive even deeper, set up a call! Best, Lucien https://calendly.com/opscat
