What We Carry

Every day, GPs carry things no one in the waiting room can see.

This is a place to put one of those things into words — anonymously, if you'd like. We'll share these stories, with care, so people can finally see what this work actually asks of you.

It doesn't have to be polished. A few honest sentences is enough.
The pieces that land best are about one moment. One patient, or one day you still think about.
If you'd like to see the kind of stories others have shared, have a read at whatwecarry.com.au/stories
This is a place to be heard. If what you're carrying feels heavy right now, please also reach out to someone who can support you properly.

Not sure where to start? You might write about:

• The consultation you drove home still thinking about

• The moment you doubted yourself, and what you did with it

• The hardest sentence you've ever had to say out loud

• What you wish people understood about the ten minutes they think is simple

• The path that got you here, and what it cost

Or, something else entirely. However it comes out is right.

You can upload an audio file, if easier. If you do, just write "audio" in the box above.
