Full-stack developer - Health tech startup

Full-time · 4-month contract from September · £30k/yr pro-rata

UK-based, London a bonus · Start September 2026

There is scope to extend and grow the role, including an equity-based extension for the right person

About us

We're an early-stage consumer health-tech startup in stealth, building for the millions of people with chronic conditions who end up managing their health largely alone once standard care plateaus. We look at health as a system, from the consumer side as we believe this is best to challenge the status quo, and we're building toward two outcomes: better day-to-day health outcomes in chronic disease and, long-term, feeding what we learn into how chronic health is understood, all the way up to policy. We're funded by a secured, non-dilutive UK innovation grant, won on an extensive evidence base with a waitlist, + national partnership, + a mapped regulatory position, including a 35-page bespoke regulator review + a working, granular, custom automated go-to-market engine. The founder is an engineer + scientist + builder with a lifetime of research into their own disease, after a career in private equity and managing the allocation of $850M/yr.

The role

This is a full-time role for a Full-Stack Developer on a 4-month fixed-term contract, based in the UK, starting as soon as possible and tied to the funded project.

You will design, build and ship the user-facing product end to end: a React or Next.js front end, a Node or Python back end, and Postgres underneath. Day to day that means building responsive interfaces, developing APIs, designing and integrating the database, and handling sensitive personal data securely and in line with UK data-protection requirements. You will take part in code reviews, contribute to architecture decisions, write clean testable code, troubleshoot, and iterate quickly with feedback from a live user cohort. At the end of the contract you hand over a documented, runnable stack.

Qualifications

- Strong full-stack development skills, with experience delivering production-quality web applications end to end.
- Front-end development with modern JavaScript frameworks (we use React or Next.js) and CSS for responsive, accessible interfaces.
- Back-end development: server-side work in Node or Python, API design, and relational database integration (we use Postgres).
- Familiarity with secure coding and handling sensitive data; healthcare or another regulated setting is a plus, not a requirement.
- Comfort with modern AI-assisted development, and the ability to debug what the tools write.
- Ownership and self-direction in a fast-paced early-stage startup, collaborating closely with founder and ML lead.
- Cloud platforms, CI/CD and automated testing experience are beneficial.
- A degree in a technical subject is welcome.
We care about whether you can do this work, not how long you have been doing it: personal projects, coursework and self-taught depth all count.

Process

Applications reviewed on a rolling basis - first review 1st September. Apply early. We can only consider candidates able to start in September. If this excites you but you don't tick every box, apply anyway and tell us what you'd bring.

PhD placements / internships: if your programme lets you do a placement or internship and this interests you, we'd love to meet you. It's unpaid, but you'd own a real piece of the build, work directly with the founder, and we're happy to fit around your studies. GTM, product or growth: no salaried seat yet, but if this sounds like your thing, get in touch; we're moving fast.
Advisor: No salaried seat yet, but we could explore this too.
