As a DJ, I've always been inspired by the stories of Chicago's legendary parties, especially nights like those at the Music Box with Ron Hardy. They remind me that house music has always been about the connection between the DJ, the dancers and the crowd.
Having grown up surrounded by dancers, it's disappointing to see how disconnected many house parties have become from house dancers today. Too often, dancers don't receive the respect they deserve, and the soul of that connection is missing.
Through my artistic vision, I want to help bring that connection back and put the dancefloor at the heart of the experience again.
For too long, club culture has placed DJs at the center of the experience. We celebrate them, photograph them and build stages around them. But before there was a DJ booth, there was a dancefloor.
House music was born in clubs, through the energy between music and movement. Dancers have always been the heartbeat of that culture. They don't just react to the music, they complete it.
