The African Diaspora Cultural Spending Index

Remittances are one of the main ways we measure the African diaspora’s contribution to the continent’s economy. But remittances do not tell the full story. They capture money people send home for family support and investment. They do not capture what the diaspora spends on African culture and creative products in the countries where they live.

Communiqué believes that understanding this cultural spending can give us a clearer picture of the diaspora’s contribution to Africa’s creative economy. Hence, the development of this index.

Your responses to the questions that follow will help us build a more accurate picture of this economic relationship between the African diaspora and the continent’s creative economy.

The questionnaire will take no more than two minutes to complete.

Thank you for your time.
