Content Manager Application for The Filtery
I am hiring a motivated team member to help sustain
The Filtery’s longterm growth. This role will start small, with a focus on social media management, but it has real room to grow. I'd love to find someone who's excited about that arc.
- You actually care about non-toxic living and environmental health.
- You have empathy and are willing to lean into the nuance of life.
- You're a self-starter and a problem-solver. You do not need to be told exactly what to do.
- You are always thinking about new ideas and better processes that can benefit everyone involved (The Filtery team and readers). You are able to identify problems and brainstorm ideas for solutions without being asked.
- You pay attention to detail. You’re organized, you don’t let things slip through the cracks, and you hit deadlines.
- You actually enjoy social media. You find Instagram and similar platforms genuinely interesting, and being on them doesn't drain you. (If you're currently trying to reduce your social media use for your own wellbeing, this isn't the right role for you.)
- You are familiar with a variety of social media platforms and are willing to learn new ones.
- You are efficient with social media editing, scheduling, and other related tools (ex: Manychat), and you can figure out how to use new tools as they are released.
- You are not afraid to be in front of the camera. (This will not be required day one, but the long-term version of this role likely involves appearing in video content.)
- You can write and communicate clearly.
- You're looking for something you can grow into over the next few years, not a short-term gig or a stepping stone to launching your own thing.
- Managing the day to day content publication on The Filtery’s social media platforms. (Publishing posts and Stories that have been pre-approved.)
- Monitoring comments and DMs.
- Assisting with turning previously-created long form content into short form.
- Helping to put systems in place to increase efficiency and to get the most out of each piece of content.
- Bringing ideas to the table about how to improve our social presence, what's working and what's not, and what we could be doing better.
As I mentioned, there is a lot of room for this position to grow. Although the initial responsibilities will focus on social media management, this role has the potential to evolve into a ‘right hand person’, helping Abbie to run various aspects of The Filtery. This could include:
- Taking a larger role in the whole social media process from start to finish, from brainstorming fresh content ideas, to refining strategy, to creating and editing the posts.
- Editorial assistance and writing (including sourcing and pitching stories) for The Filtery’s newsletter and website.
- Facilitating brand partnerships communications.
- Assisting with future projects.
The initial role will be part time, with the potential to evolve into a full time role in the future.
A note on working hours: Because of the nature of social media management, this role requires working shorter blocks across multiple days each week rather than long stretches on a single day. If you need a single dedicated work day, this likely isn't the right fit.
