Never Precious: Share Your Story

Welcome to Never Precious — an ever-growing archive of the food traditions, recipes, and stories worth preserving before they're gone. Thank you for trusting us with your story.
To help us honor it as fully and accurately as possible, we've written a few prompts to guide you through your submission.
Before you consider running off...
First off, we welcome contributions in any format — written, audio, video, photo, or a combination.
Second, there's really only one rule: don't make stuff up. Share only what you know to be true (and if you're not sure and can't verify, just say that). Finally, always remember: now is better than never. Perfect is boring. Don't let it get in the way.
What to expect after you submit
A Never Precious curator will read and treat every submission with care. We may reach out with follow-up questions before any publication.
Entries we publish may appear across Never Precious platforms and publications. We'll inform you when and where yours is going live.
Questions? Reach out to tye@neverprecious.com.

The Tradition

Tell us about the food memory you want to honor — in your own voice, however that sounds.

The Keeper

Who is at the heart of this memory? Tell us about them.

The Meaning

Tell us more about why this memory is important to you.

For the next parts: if any of the people important to this tradition are still with us, we'd love to hear from them too. We encourage you to voice record them giving you the recipe orally, film them cooking it, or ask them to send you their written recollection in their own words. Entries can always be supplemented later — just email us at tye@neverprecious.com.

The Recipe

Is there a recipe associated with this tradition? If so, share what you know: ingredients, methods, or the parts you remember that make it special. Perfect measurements, or measurements at all, are never ever required here. But we do encourage you, where possible, to ask the person who holds the recipe if you're not sure.

The Artifacts

Are there artifacts connected to this tradition — a handwritten recipe, a photograph, a letter, an object you could snap a photo of? Describe them (and if you have them, submit them in the prompt below). Before you skip this question: we encourage you to ask around.

Upload any artifacts you want to submit here — photos, video, audio, scans. If they're too big to attach, reach out to tye@neverprecious.com. You can email us artifacts after you submit if you come across them.
