SME People & HR Support Research

We're researching how founders, owners and directors of small and growing businesses manage day-to-day people and HR questions.

We're particularly interested in what happens when an employee issue arises, where business leaders currently go for support, and what would make managing people issues easier.

This survey takes approximately 4–5 minutes.

Responses will be used for research purposes. You do not need to provide your name or company name unless you choose to volunteer for follow-up research.

SECTION 4 — A POTENTIAL NEW SERVICE

We'd now like your reaction to a potential service being explored for small and growing businesses.

Imagine your business had access to its own virtual HR support desk.

You would create your company profile once, including information such as your company details, working arrangements, key employment information and company logo.

When an HR or employee question arose, you could ask the service what to do.

It would ask relevant questions about the situation before providing practical guidance based on your circumstances.

If you needed an HR document — such as an offer letter, probation letter, absence meeting invitation, performance improvement plan, policy, checklist or manager conversation guide — it could create the document using your company information and branding.

Documents could carry your company's branding, with a discreet reference to being produced in partnership with an HR consultancy.

For situations involving greater risk or professional judgement, the service would identify this and give you the option of getting support from an HR professional.
