The scholarship application period will open on December 1 and close on May 1. Scholarship recipients will be notified in June.
Purpose: To provide financial assistance to a member of the Sickle Cell Association of South Louisiana who would like to continue their education after high school.
Number of Award: Two awards will be given at $500 for the fall semester.
Who Qualifies: Graduating high school seniors; Individual with sickle cell disease (individuals with sickle cell trait are not eligible); and a member of Sickle Cell of South Louisiana.
Qualifications/Selection Factors: Minimum of 2.0 grade point average; minimum 10 hours of community service; and 500 word essay.
Essay Topic: Candidates must submit a personal essay of no more than 500 words reflecting on how sickle cell disease has shaped their life, goals, or community, or discuss its broader impact on society.
**All applicants must submit a résumé, cover letter, and three references, including at least one from a counselor or teacher.
