Nonviolence Studies: July 2026

In July we will explore the relationship between technology and nonviolence at a time when technological tools are becoming increasingly powerful and influential in our lives. Together, we will consider how technology can either strengthen or undermine our deepest human values, and reflect on what qualities of being human become even more important to cultivate in a rapidly changing world. Through readings, discussions, and shared inquiry, we will examine how we can engage technology in ways that support human dignity, connection, and the practice of nonviolence.
The online study program will begin on July 6. After registration, please expect a few days wait to hear from us as to next steps. Questions can be sent to info@mettacenter.org.

Can technology support nonviolence? If so, how?
Share any examples you have seen where technology has helped build understanding, reduce harm, strengthen communities, or create positive social change.

Where do you see tensions between technology and nonviolence?
For example, in areas such as attention, relationships, surveillance, misinformation, consumption, or conflict.

How do you think technology shapes the way we relate to one another?
Does it help us see each other's humanity, make connection more difficult, or both?

What questions are you carrying about technology and the future?
What are you most curious to explore during this month?

Is there a technology-related habit, practice, or challenge you would like to examine more deeply?

What would a more nonviolent relationship with technology look like for you personally?
