Building resilience together: Collaborative solutions for climate adaptation
EQUANS - A4MT Event - Wednesday, April 22, 2026 - Waerboom (Groot Bijgaarden)
Climate change is no longer a distant threat; it is a tangible reality reshaping our operations and communities. In Belgium, the devastating floods of 2021 in Wallonia and the record-breaking heatwaves endured last summers have highlighted the urgent need for collective action to build resilience. Such incidents are no longer isolated, they are part of a growing pattern of climate-related challenges that call for innovative and collaborative solutions.
At Equans - as we are a contraction of “EQUation” and “ANSwer” -we believe adaptation is the new equation we must create the most adequate answer for. And we strongly believe that the complexity of climate risks requires us to share perspectives, learn from one another, and co-create solutions that address different forms of vulnerabilities.
That is why, in partnership with A4MT, we are bringing together Belgium’s ecosystem
of real estate managers, banking and insurance experts, industrial leaders, public institutions, and infrastructure operators for an event designed to face together these new
challenges and formulate adequate answers.
This event offers a structured space for meaningful dialogue and action with a wide
range of stakeholders. By joining, you’ll deepen your understanding of your vulnerabilities, explore innovative solutions, and connect with peers to help shape collective responses that strengthen the resilience of your assets and activities.

Let's start with your personal details
What workshop do you want to contribute to?
Half of this event would be dedicated to facilitated small group discussions to share practices and difficulties around specific resilience and adaptation issues:
1 - Unlocking resilient solutions from a concrete climate disaster - Join us for a facilitated discussion centered on a fictional — yet highly plausible — climate hazard scenario in Belgium. Together, we will explore the roles each stakeholder can play to enhance resilience before, during, and after such an event. The workshop will place special focus on the critical importance of financing mechanisms and insurance in managing risks and supporting recovery efforts.
2 - Turning vulnerabilities into long-term resilience - We invite you in this workshop to look ahead in your adaptation plans by analyzing vulnerabilities, risks, and current measures within focused thematic groups. Together, we will share practices and identify opportunities for improvement to build stronger, lasting resilience.
You can join the group that best matches the challenge you want to focus on.Thematic subgroups:
- Cities and their networks - Urban infrastructure and essential services such as energy water, transport, and telecommunications that support the functioning of cities
- Industries and production sites - Industrial facilities and operational sits exposed to climate risks that may affect production, supply chains and worker safety.
- Buildings and critical infrastructures - Adaptation of all buildings and facilities, including critical ones such as hospitals, emergency services, and other facilities essential to the functioning and safety of society.
