About Black in Marine Science (BIMS)

BIMS is seeking a proactive, data-driven community builder to own member growth, retention, and engagement. You will design and run member experiences, manage the membership lifecycle, and deliver clear value to Early Career, Professional, and Organizational members. Success is measured by net membership growth, retention, and engagement outcomes. This is a full-time, remote position.
· Own the membership lifecycle: onboarding, engagement, renewal, and lapsed win-back.
· Build and deliver a quarterly programming calendar tailored to member segments (Early Career, Professional, Organizational).
· Run 2–3 member events per month (virtual or in-person), including workshops, roundtables, and mentorship sessions.
· Maintain active community channels (newsletter, social, WhatsApp) with relevant content and clear calls to action.
· Manage a job board, mentorship matching, and member spotlights to showcase opportunities and achievements.
· Track and report membership metrics weekly; identify at-risk members and run outreach to prevent churn.
· Collaborate with leadership and programs to align events and content with BIMS' mission and member needs.
Qualifications
· Proactive, data-driven community builder
· Experience in member growth, retention, and engagement
· Ability to design and run member experiences and manage membership lifecycles
· Experience delivering value to Early Career, Professional, and Organizational members
· Ability to build and deliver quarterly programming calendars tailored to member segments

TRAVEL
Approximately 10-25% of your time will be spent traveling.
· $60,000 annual salary.
